You might be wondering
what are my options?
Pregnancy wasn’t part of the plan and suddenly you’re at a crossroads, trying to determine what is the best option for you. It’s important to know all of your options. No matter what you decide, each choice has outcomes that can affect the rest of your life.
Abortion
the termination of a pregnancy through a medical or surgical method.
As with any medical procedure, it’s important to know what to expect, patient’s rights, potential complications and risks, and possible after-effects. Journey House provides free limited OB ultrasounds to determine whether a pregnancy is able to progress. Pregnancies that have not implanted in the uterus may require immediate medical intervention, such as in cases of ectopic pregnancies. Pregnancies in which fetal heart tones are not detected, will end naturally in miscarriage. Referrals are given for medical care to ensure that the miscarriage is complete and to avoid any risk of infection or further complications. Journey House provides abortion education that is medically accurate. We also understand that an unplanned pregnancy is a complex issue that must be met with love and compassion.
Adoption
the process of legally transferring your parental rights to another.
Did you know that adoption is actually a parenting plan? Some women feel, for a variety of reasons, that they are unable to care for a child in their current season of life, and chose instead to make an adoption plan. Whether this is a first-time pregnancy or you have children at home, adoption is a loving choice. Journey House provides on-going practical and emotional support for women as they walk through their pregnancy, the adoption process, and after the adoption is completed. Journey House educates clients on different adoption options—open, partially open, and closed—and connects clients to adoption agencies or adoption attorneys.
Parenting
the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood.
Whether you’re thinking about parenting as a single mom or with a partner, parents need continual encouragement and support to raise their child. In addition to emotional and practical support, Journey House provides information on Sooner Care—whether you qualify, how to sign up, and OBGYN contact information. Journey House also connects clients with other community programs such as WIC, food assistance, parenting education, earn-while-you-learn programs, support groups for single moms, and early childhood programs.
